Obituary of Kathleen P. Hennessy

Kathleen Patricia (Shea) Hennessy was born in the Bronx, New York to Alice Jones and Michael Shea on August 26, 1938. She was the sweet little sister to her three older brothers: Joe, Bobby, and Ed. A true Bronx girl in every way, Kay loved the days of her childhood on E. 138th Street with best friends Rosemary and Ann Marie, and the countless happy years raising her family with her beloved husband, John with the their adored dog, Hobo, in Woodlawn Heights. Sharing her enthusiasm, generous sense of humor, and kind heart as the payroll manager at Manhattan College until her retirement, Kay always expressed all the love and affection that she had for her Manhattan College family. With her husband, John, she was an active member of St. Barnabas Church in the Bronx, NY. She was a supportive and loving partner to her husband, John, in his ministry as a Permanent Deacon. Whether she was volunteering at the Passionate Retreat House or at St. Barnabas with her cherished friends in the rectory, Kay gave all that she had to every task presented to her. Kay felt blessed to have wonderful sisters-in-law in Bunny, Cookie and Helen, and she had such fond memories of having fun times with her many nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed spending time with the lovely friends that she made during her retirement years in Tampa. Kay loved going to Broadway shows, attending Yankee baseball games, shopping at Macy’s, and running around with her grandkids to play and laugh. Most of all, she shared her kindness and compassion with all. Kay is survived by her daughter, Kellyann and her husband Grant of Yorktown Heights, NY, her daughter Coleen, of Tampa, FL and her son, John and his wife, Kathy of Tampa, FL. She is predeceased by her husband, John T. Hennessy. Kay’s grandchildren feel blessed to have had the best grandma in the world: Michael, John, James, Katie, Jackie, Joe, Julie, Jillian, and Anthony. They feel lucky to know that she will always be their angel! The family will be present on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 from 4 to 8 PM at Ruggiero & Sons, Inc.
