Ofelia Adelina Lozano passed away peacefully on March 31, 2021 at the age of 92.
Ofelia Adelina Lozano Arriaga was born on August 28, 1928 in Ahuehuetitla, Puebla, Mexico to Francisco Lozano and Rafaela Arriaga. She was the third of eight children. She was predeceased by her husband of many years Reberiano Soriano on May 10, 1995. Although Ofelia was her first name, she was known to her friends and family as "Adelina", this was her preferred name. Adelina had three children, Maria Elena, Jorge and Jaime. Unfortunately she was predeceased by Maria Elena on April 28, 2003.
Adelina was a very strong and courageous woman who had to overcome many obstacles throughout her life. She was never afraid of a challenge and a firm believer of "When there’s will, there’s a way". Adelina worked the fields in Mexico for many years while also helping care for the home. She was a self-taught seamstress, who had a talent for making and mending clothes and was the go-to person in her small village when a new dress was needed or clothing needed alterations.
Adelina was a longtime resident of Yonkers, NY after arriving in the states to care and spend time with her daughter, Maria Elena after the unfortunate cancer diagnosis. She knew she was needed to help care for both her daughter and small granddaughters. Her main priority was her family and was always willing to go above and beyond to care and help in any way possible.
Adelina leaves behind two sons, Jorge and Jaime, as well as seven grandchildren, Jorge Alejandro, Ivan, Geovany, Yesenia, Stephanie, Jessika and Michelle. She also leaves behind eight great grandchildren who she was in love with, Justin Kenny, Brandon Anthony, Brooke Lynn, Xavi, Gianni Mick, Oliver, Emma Isabella and Xareni Elena.
"Her passing has left a great void. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother. We take solace in knowing she lived to be 92, always a very independent woman who lived life on her own terms. We are grateful to have been able to spend so many amazing years and create wonderful memories with her."
