Obituary of Mercedes Borrani

"Mercedes Borrani passed away suddenly on March 12, 2021. She was an only child to Rosa and Ernesto Henríquez. She was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador and learned at a very early age of her passion for business. She was married to Jose Borrani for 67 years, recently deceased. She was a mother of 5 children: Teresa Borrani (deceased), Gino Borrani, Mario Borrani, Mercy Borrani-Noriega and Grace Borrani-Gambardella. She was blessed with many grandchildren. On September 13, 1959 she made the hardest decision in her life to leave her family in Ecuador and venture to The United States to make a better life for them. She was a seamstress in her younger years and later on in life became an entrepreneur. She became a fashion exporter - a clothing store owner (G&M Outlet Store) - and a real estate mogul (Borrani Realty). She had a love for business, negotiating and being the “Boss”. Her dominant personality gave her the drive to be the best in all her businesses This passion and drive later allowed her to become the entrepreneur which would affect so many families/lives. She was a pioneer and an advocate for helping others in need, especially those who migrated here to the United States looking for a better life. Real estate was another of her passions, her sharp mind and business awareness allowed her to acquire various properties. To which she used to help many families in need. She struggled, but her work ethic and determination for a better life stayed in her forefront and she never looked back. Family and the love for one’s family was something dear to her heart. She made certain to instill this love for family in her children and grandchildren. One of the simplest ways she found to express this love for family was through cooking. One could say that her her first love was for her family and her passion was cooking. In her later years she found joy and happiness planting her rose bushes and her garden. She continued cooking and teaching her granddaughters those secret recipes that she never wrote down. Her love of seeing her grandchildren grow filled her heart with so much happiness. Rest In Peace Mami. We will love and miss you forever" The family will be present on Sunday, March 21st, 2021 from 4-7 PM at Ruggiero & Sons, Inc., Funeral Home, 732 Yonkers Avenue- Yonkers, New York 10704.
