Assunta Petrozza died peacefully, surrounded by her children on September 30, 2020. She was born in Italy on August 10, 1933 and married the love of her life, Frank, on September 16, 1951. Frank preceded her in death in 2010.
Assunta loved her family and friends and was everyone’s adopted “mother” on Yonkers Ave. You would see her daily, doing what she loved the most, making pizza at Raceway Pizzeria for 50 years.
Assunta is survived by her children, Louie (Clare), Gina (Tony) Francescone, Joanne (Peter) Altobelli; her seven grandchildren, Melissa (Tyler), Daniela (Dom), Marcella (Rich), Michelle, Enrica (Jake), Peter Frank and Jennifer (Nick) and 15 great grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. She was a loving sister, sister-in-law, aunt, godmother, and friend to many. She was loved by all and she loved everyone in return. Yonkers Avenue will never be the same.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, www.Cancer.org.
The family will be present on Sunday, October 4, 2020 from 2-6 PM at Ruggiero & Sons, Inc. – 732 Yonkers Avenue – Yonkers, NY 10704.
