Anthony Marinaccio, 82, of Yonkers, NY, passed away on March 31, 2020.
Anthony was born in the Bronx on May 24, 1937 to Raffaele and Teresa Marinaccio. He grew up on Cortland Ave in the Bronx and made many lifelong friends. He served his country proudly in the US Army. He was a skilled carpenter for many years before entering into management in the construction industry. He loved bowling and participated on many leagues throughout his life and right up to the end of his life. He had multiple 300 games. In his 80’s he was still bowling well over 200. Playing cards was another thing he enjoyed. Throughout his life, Anthony played cards with friends and family. He enjoyed his weekly card game that was cancelled because of the stay at home order. Holidays were not complete without a card game with his nephews and grandkids.
Anthony’s faith was deep paralleled only by his love for his family. Life with his wife Sylvia, was filled with adventures, trips, and lots of love. She called him the “love of her life.” His greatest love was for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved bathing the kids from his first born right down the line. He gave the first bath to 13 children in the family. He spent countless hours walking the floors to put them to sleep, pushing swings, playing with Hess trucks, having tea parties, and dress up, and dancing with the girls. A visit to Stew’s was not complete without PopPop taking them to visit the animals and sharing an ice cream. He never missed going to recitals, soccer, softball, and basketball games. He taught his family near and far to be kind, to love one another, and to be a strong family. He treated all he met with kindness and humor. He will be greatly missed.
Anthony is survived by his wife Sylvia of 61 years, his daughters Karen DesSoye (William) of Yonkers, Theresa Hunter (Billy) of Leander, Texas, Grandchildren Danielle DesSoye, Toni LaManna (Eric) of Valhalla, NY, Anthony Hunter (Brielle), and Alexis Hunter of Leander Texas. Great-grandchildren Kayla and Nicole Menendez, Sophie LaManna, and John Anthony Hunter.
