Annamarie Mortati, a resident of Yonkers, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2018 at the age of 82.
She persisted from the moment she was born 82 years ago at just under 2 pounds. She persisted when all the odds were against her survival. She persisted to overcome childhood illness and grow to a self sufficient adult and a very organized, thoughtful and generous daughter, sister, cousin, wife, aunt and great aunt who was a talented bookkeeper, cook, gifted baker and a serious shopper. She persisted in keeping family memories and rituals alive. Always being the first to usher Christmas in with her cards, remembering birthdays and anniversaries and welcoming new babies with a cute outfit. Over the past few years, her persistence served her well as she battled through several bouts of illness. Our cousins in Italy refer to her as a “warrior”. Indeed, she was. Her battles are now over. May she rest in peace.
She will be missed by husband Frank, sisters Linda and Donna, brothers –in-law, Jerry and Leigh, niece Dana and nephew Neil, great niece, Madeline and many relatives and friends here and abroad.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Annamarie’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital - www.stjude.org
