Obituary of William E. Slattery

William E. Slattery, formerly of the Bronx and a longtime resident of Mahopac, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family at the age of 94.

Lieutenant Commander Slattery proudly served our country during World War II as a US Navy PBY pilot in the Pacific Theatre. Upon his return home, he became a New York City Police Officer, eventually becoming Commander of the 5th Precinct, his last command before retiring after 30+ years of service.

Grandpa Bill was predeceased in 2000 by his beloved wife Elsie. He is survived by his children Eileen Bishop, Gene (Susan), Bill (Pat), Susan and Chuck (Cathy), as well as his beloved grandchildren Kerri, Rick (Korryn), Brian (Stacy), Michael (Meghan), Chuck (Sarah), Chris (Lauren), Billy James, Billy Red (Kate), Caity, Kristen (Brian) and Colleen. He is also survived by his adored great grandchildren Sean, Matt, Zach, Ryan, Cody, Jordan, Jake, Hannah, Aubree, Beau, Jourdan, Josh, Callie, Kiera, Charlotte Mae, John Michael, & Lyla Evelyn. He was predeceased by his brother Gene.

Funeral Mass Tuesday 10:45 AM at Saint Barnabas Church, 409 East 241st Street, Bronx, New York 10470 with Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. The family will be present on Sunday & Monday from 4-8 PM at F. Ruggiero & Sons, Inc., 732 Yonkers Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10704 (914) 375-1400
